The Character Education road is often not a straight path to a destination of ensuring that students have the desired beliefs related to being a person of good character. Teaching, enforcing, advocating and modeling character is more than a quick fix or one with guaranteed results.

Here are six strategies that can support and engage a school in crafting a character initiative that ensures a positive place to learn and work.

  1. Of the six strategies shared (engage students, administrative commitment, CC! resources, class management, integration, relationships) which once is the most effective in creating a sustainable character-based culture? Why do you think this?

  2. When can we teach CHARACTER COUNTS! In what ways can we support and challenge our students each day to live up to the Six Pillars?

  3. What are we already doing as a school to TEAM ((Teach Enforce Advocate, Model) CHARACTER COUNTS? What could we do better?

  4. As our school plans for school improvement, what can we do to ensure that CHARACTER COUNTS! is sustainable?
