Character education lessons, activities, and resources

Pillar: Trustworthiness

Purpose: Students will discuss the importance of trustworthiness and keeping promises.

Objectives:

  1. Students will reflect on their own promise keeping and track how well they keep promises.
  2. Students will discuss the challenges of keeping promises.

Activity: Think of one promise you have made that you want to keep. Write it down or draw a picture of it, and at the end of the week, see how well you did at keeping it. Mark each day you kept your promise.

Kindergarten: Was it easy to keep your promise? Did anyone feel good when you kept it? Who?

Grade 1:  Was your promise hard or easy? Would you make your next one easier or harder?

Grade 2: Do you think it’s easy to keep promises? What advice would you give to someone who is trying to keep a promise?
