Character education lessons, activities, and resources

Caring for others is an important character trait, and a learned skill. One wonderful way to promote a culture of kindness in your home is to write letters to one another and to others outside of the house. The Heart of the Message can be mailed to family or friends, and this is one way that caring can be taught and modeled.  You can even sign your child up to have a pen pal with students in other countries. The act of writing a letter to send a message of hope and encouragement teaches your child how to care for others and how to show that care in a meaningful way. Homemade cards or handwritten letters are meaningful. Receiving a letter in the mail is exciting and tells the recipient you care. So, send an actual letter instead of an email or a text message.
