Procedure

While the teacher stands at the front of the class ready to teach, the students are often otherwise occupied and it can be a tough task getting them focused and back on task. Here are five tips to use with Good to Go to capture their interest:

  1. Use one of the conversation starters in Good to Go as a writing prompt that you write on the board to start each class.
  2. Choose one of the Pillars that reflects the actions of a character you're studying in history, literature, or social studies and have the students answer the conversation starter as if they were that character.
  3. Have the students take the activities to younger grades and lead the activity themselves. This is a great way to encourage student leadership, as well as to develop inter-class relationships.
  4. Use the activities to introduce a topic related to the Pillar value. It's a fun way to introduce the Pillars.
  5. Ask the class to develop their own Good to Go ideas for conversation and activities.
