Evanston, WY: Six Pillar Superheroes

We received this report from Character Counts! Character Development Seminar graduate Angel Lanham, about recent goings-on in Evanston, Wyoming:

"Since our first training with Character Counts! nearly one year ago we have had many successes. Local elementary, middle and high schools are teaching Character Education. Our organization called Youth Opportunities Unlimited (YOU!), an after school program for grades 6-12 led by Grace Zolnosky, started the effort and it is spreading like wildfire.

Each summer we conduct a "Superhero" themed Character Camp for K-5th graders. We have Trustworthy Chic, Respect Dude, Responsibility Ranger, The Fairness Fairy, The Caring Clown, and Super Citizen.

This year was our 2nd Annual Character Camp. We divide children into six teams (of course it's Six Pillar teams). Each team has a Team Leader and rotates through the Six Pillars for 2 days of Character Education. We have so much fun and we provide book readings, activities, cheers, chants and team building. Day 3 is the TRRFCC Track and Field Day and the Grand Finale...The Super Skits. Our local daycare and library team up with us to make this an annual event.

We're just going to keep moving onward and upward until the town is bombarded with Character. Oh, and we are also teaching Character Education each Wednesday at our new Youth Center.

Thanks,
Angel Lanham
