CHARACTER COUNTS! presented three awards during the United Way of Martin County's Champions of the Community event April 7. The honorees were:
- Dr. Sara Wilcox, superintendent of Martin County Schools, for being a founding member and remaining an involved and steadfast supporter for 10 years.
- Mary LaFauve, for starting a generous and committed relationship with CHARACTER COUNTS! two years ago when her daughter interned for a semester with CHARACTER COUNTS!
- Phyllis Kordick, for continuing to champion CHARACTER COUNTS! after the death of her husband, Joe Kordick, who founded the Youth Character Awards.
