Fort Lewis, WA: A CC! Week to Remember

The Beachwood Center celebrated CC! Week 2004 with a peace and remembrance walk. The children made posters illustrating how character is part of their lives every day, and showed their support for the soldiers in Iraq, many of them family members.

Military police escorted walkers through the housing areas, as they do each year. Participating children ranged from four months to school age, and dressed in colors to support the troops. An "angel" appeared and a selected child read a poem to a family. The walk concluded back to the center, where Liz, who makes and decorates hearts of Palmer's clay for families and soldiers on deployment, offered them to the children. Liz also assisted in the walk and took photos for the center.
