Fort Lewis, WA: Heroes On Parade

The children of Beachwood took part in many events during October 2003. On October 9 the Lights After School project was a March of Heroes, in which the children dressed up, wore masks, carried signs, and created murals and posters for their CHARACTER COUNTS! Hero on Parade. “Parents, staff, teachers, and children walked the March with us,” says CHARACTER COUNTS! coordinator Deborah Shepard.

On October 15, kids made a 13-song CD for a fundraiser. Children in the boys and girls clubs and 4-H will also create friendship cards for soldiers, working with Operation Bright Lights to add a moment of cheer to their days. The goal is to send a greeting card to all soldiers. Children will also draw pictures for the upcoming Art Fair of the boys and girls clubs.
