Fort Lewis, WA: Children Play, Sing and Act to Learn Character

May 2003 was a busy month at the Beachwood Center. The children continued to learn about the Six Pillars. Visitors included the hometown country buffet bee, and the choir performed a rap to the Pledge of Allegiance. In June the choir will add sign language to the songs, and perform in conjunction with the drama club led by Deborah Shepard.

The children in summer camp promoted CHARACTER COUNTS! by mentoring the younger children with 4-H. Some of the newer clubs included hip hop, apparel, gardening, bugs, puppetry, stitchery with canvas, biking, sports, cooking, and scrapbooking. The children also took part in 4-H training and helped as junior camp assistants.
