Fort Lewis, WA: Month of the Military Child

On April 16, 2003, to celebrate the "Month of the Military Child," Colonel Timothy Scully from the chief of staff for I Corps, and Sergeant Major Johnston, the G3 sergeant major advisor for Enlisted USAR/NG for Fort Lewis, presented the children at Beachwood Center with their CHARACTER COUNTS! Awards. The children also received Art Awards from the Boys and Girls Club. On April 17, the youngsters held a "KidsFest" with the theme of "Rollin’ on Washington." All centers on post made posters and wall murals depicting the formation of the Cascades, as well as the faces of the military and their families. The children focused on the Pillar of respect in April, and Fort Lewis itself did the same.
