High school seniors in Fairfax County attend one-day ethics seminars where volunteers from the business community discuss character themes with the students. The sessions break into groups of six to eight per business volunteer, and each group spends the day working through ethical dilemmas, applying the Six Pillars and the CC! decision-making model.
The program has expanded to five high schools. "I’m kind of like Johnny Appleseed," says local businessman and CC! organizer Chuck Veatch. "I go to these schools and every time somebody expresses an interest I set one up." He’s also working with schools so that character is stressed throughout the year, and emphasized in earlier grades, too.
